Our Apartment

Things are coming together here in New Haven. Well, as far as our apartment is concerned. I filmed an apartment tour over on my YouTube channel, so be sure to check that out if you want a more detailed look into our apartment.

Here are some of my favorite rooms:

This is the first thing you see when you walk into my apartment. The thing hanging on the wall is an Olive and Sinclair bandana (sold out, but there is a tea towel) and is in an Ikea frame. The kitchen cart is also from Ikea, and is great for additional storage in our small kitchen. Oh, and I am pretty much obsessed with the exposed brick that goes throughout our apartment.

Even though our kitchen is teeny tiny, I love it. I love how white and clean it looks, and I love the little decor and knick-knack touches. Our cabinets are overflowing with mugs, glasses, and water bottles, so it’s nice to be able to display some of my favorite mugs. Teek is a big fan of sitting on the fridge and on the ledge that runs along the top of our kitchen.

This is a room we call France. It’s a long story, and we have actually had 3 Frances, and I don’t think this will be the last. The painting of our beloved cat Teek is from a Nashville artist named Rachel Ellithorpe, and was gifted to me by my best friend Jessica.

The gallery wall is one of my favorite things in our new apartment, and I wish it was somewhere more out in the open. It has some of my favorite people, places, and quirky pieces or art/cards. I can’t wait to either add on to this one or make a second gallery wall.

Another exposed brick wall…what more could a girl want? Maybe a fireplace that actually works because ours does not. A not functioning fireplace aside, I love having one to decorate. The Virtue Cider print is from a cidery in Michigan, and another best friend, Alison, got it for me. My friends know I love art. I will be hanging something else once Christmas rolls around…stay tuned for what it is 🙂

I will admit I don’t have a green thumb, but I try my hardest to not kill all of my plants. This bad boy has been with me for a few years now, and is holding up pretty well. I got the star from Target a couple of Christmases ago for only $20. I love it.

Things that are incomplete:

This is the wall to the left (facing the door) of the front door. I would really like to get a horizontal long hanging mirror, some sort of coat rack, and a tall plant. I could also put a second gallery wall here…or to the right of the front door which is another blank wall.

Our bookshelf is currently holding stuff that belongs on our coffee table. Unfortunately, we left the legs to our coffee table in Nashville. We are still not sure if we are going to have them shipped to New Haven or if we will just buy a new one.

Our closet will probably be an easy fix because all we really need is a curtain or two to hide our clothes from view. We just need to agree on what we want. I would also like to get a nicer hamper.

The rest of our bedroom is pretty empty. We need some sort of nightstand for each side of the bed, a headboard or bed frame, a large carpet (I have my eyes on this one), a bed skirt, a new duvet (ours is navy…not good with a white cat), and maybe a plant or two.

Finally, I would like a basket to place on our kitchen cart to put all of Teek’s stuff. The plastic bin her bowl and plate sit on sticks out in the middle of the floor and is a bit of an eyesore. Good thing her bowl and plate are cute.

Again, check out my YouTube video for a more apartment details. Please subscribe to my channel while you are over there. I am trying to reach 200 subscribers by my 30th birthday!

Talk to you later, alligator.
